I will sometimes post here about projects I am doing or something cool I came across. Most of the times computer related, other times it may be something else!
I started this website off a couple years ago. I originally started on Wix then Google sites, now here I am using Neocities! I have had a blast learning HTML and building this website. By actually learning HTML yourself you can really appreciate the amazing work that is put into building the world that is the internet. I learn HTML using W3 schools HTML Tutorial ,it really is a great website. This website has had lots of different changes throughout it's life and will continue to do so. I must thank the Neocities team for making all this possible!
I recently picked up an old, dusty HP PRO 3505 Series MT for free! It has pretty crap specs (to be expected for an early 2010s machine) but I guess that is to be expected. I tryed linux mint on it and it ran as expected, I guess it could work for document creating pherhaps. I am planning to mabye make it a server in the future. The machine has an AMD E2-3200 Series CPU, 500gb Hitachi HDD (from AUG 2012), and a single stick of 4gb DDR3 RAM. I'm gonna clean out all the dust at some point as it is insane- I had to open my window as my desk corner looked like the upside down from stranger things with all the dust! Anyway, I will probably keep updates on the PC- wether I decide to make it a server or put Windows 7 on it for nostagia purpouses. Images of the PC are below:
I connected to Transpennine Express Wi-Fi with my laptop and it is not great. First of all, it asks for you info such as your E-Mail address, Title, First and last name. There are some other trains that require a postcode and your telephone number! Of course they don't ask for any conformation through your E-mail or anything so you can put litrally whatever you want and just end it with a legit domain like '@gmail.com'. Never put your actual info on these public networks and always use a VPN. It would be great if they switched to something like Starlink. The Wi-Fi is alright for stuff like neocities, very basic browsing and E-mails. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience on this topic and I read a BBC News article about the train companies are gonna upgrade the internet onboard the locomotives.
